Service Description
IMPORTANT! We do not accept birthday parties. This is an educational visit for Officially Organised Groups. The educational & awareness visit includes: - A brief talk about the sanctuary and what we do to help the hedgehogs. We will talk about Hornbeam Wood Hedgehog Sanctuary and how we help the hedgehogs. We will talk about how we receive hedgehogs that need help right up to the point when we release the hedgehogs back in to the wild. - An educational talk about hedgehogs, nature, and wildlife in general. We will talk about why hedgehogs need everyone's help as they are an endangered species. We will discuss what foods they eat and what they do during the day and night. The talk will also include specifics about how hedgehogs are special and what they do in their day to day life. The attendees will also learn about how they can help the hedgehogs and what they can actively do that might bring a hedgehog in to their garden. - Meeting one of the hedgehogs. During a walk around the sanctuary the attendees may get the opportunity to meet one of the hedgehogs in rehabilitation. Please note, there is a chance this may not happen for example; the hedgehogs are hibernating or the hedgehogs have an illness or are sick. We often release hedgehogs back in to the wild after they have undergone rehabilitation, if a hedgehog is scheduled to be released on the day, it is likely they will get to meet such a hedgehog. - A small task revolving around the theme of hedgehogs. The talk may involve some hands on activities that the attendees will undertake. These activities will hopefully get them thinking about hedgehogs and an understanding of how precious they are to everyone in the country. Details of the visit: - £40 deposit required. - Please ensure attendees have appropriate clothing and footwear. The sanctuary has open fields and woods. There are areas while walking around the sanctuary with no cover. It will be muddy and cold if it's raining on the day they visit. - If the visit takes place during or part way through sunset, please ensure attendees bring a torch with them. - A toilet is available with disability access.
