Tips to help the hedgehogs on bonfire night:
- Ideally make up the bonfire at the last minute before being lit. The same day is perfect.
- If the unlit bonfire has been ready for some time, move the bonfire a few meters away before lighting it.
- Putting up fencing, or a barrier such as chicken wire around the unlit bonfire will help to stop hedgehogs from wondering in.
- Check the bonfire thoroughly for hidden hedgehogs before lighting it as unlit bonfire make perfect habitats for hedgehogs to nest in.
