We are seeking funding for the purchase of a new rescue car that will be used to rescue and release British Wild Hedgehogs. We are a Charity that rehabilitates Wild British Hedgehogs. Founded in April 2015 and based in Harpenden, Hertfordshire.
If you would like to make a donation please head over to: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/Hedgehog
The Charity is a family run operation with help from the local community with mother and son are involved on a daily basis. Over the last seven years we have rescued, rehabilitated, and released over 1000 injured or orphaned hedgehogs with over 300 Hedgehogs released back in to the wild in 2022.
Why do you need a new rescue car?
Unfortunately our current rescue car is very old (20 years now) and has recently been involved in a crash by an Amazon UK driver. The crash was not our fault and the insurance company have compensated the Charity with £2,600 due to it being a technical write off (as in too expensive to repair and is old).
How much will this new rescue car cost?
The total cost is about £24k with the additional customisation of rescue related internal modifications and the print wraps.
What car will be purchased with the funds?
We are looking to purchase a new Suzuki Jimny Light Commercial Vehicle (https://cars.suzuki.co.uk/new-cars/jimny/ ). This is a new and updated version of our old recue car. It is a 4x4 and without the rear seats a perfect size for our mobile rescue and ambulance. It will be the base or basic model likely in white with additional internal customisations and external branding.
What happens if you don't gain enough funds to purchase the car?
We already have £3,500.00 towards the purchase of a new rescue car that came from the insurance company and one other donation that was requested to be used for the purchase of a new rescue car. If we do not gain enough funds to purchase a new rescue car by the summer of 2023 we will seek additional funding through our supporters via social media and our website. We will also look to gain grants. If by summer/autumn of 2023 and we still have not gained enough funding to purchase a new rescue vehicle we will look to purchase a second hand vehicle with the available funds.
